If starting from the Walled garden follow the instructions for the Old Garroch walk or the Dunveoch carriage track walk until you see a farm gate with side pedestrian gate on your right.

Enter the field and go straight uphill until you see farm vehicle tracks veering left.  (you could at this point go straight uphill to a gate and then follow the wall with woodland on your right to reach the same entrance into the wood, but you will miss the views).

Assuming you veer left as described you will shortly see a small loch on your left

Keep going in the same direction until you reach a wall with a farm gate on your right. Enter the shrub land area and follow the wall and trees on your left over the hill until you see a sheep track bearing right.

Follow this uneven track around the hill for 90 degrees and look for a pedestrian gate on your left into the wood.

The path through the wood is indistinct but go roughly straight ahead until you find a track with wooden treads leading down to a T junction with a marker post.  Garroch House is directly below you so try not to disturb the peace. The path goes both ways but for this loop go right, through the woods along an indistinct track and descend gradually to join the Old Garroch vehicle track.

A left turn will descend to the Walled garden and a right turn will continue up the Old Garroch walk. Obviously you could join this loop from either direction; if you are descending from the Stables and past the boathouse the farm gate is the only one on your left.
